Google Apps installed on Nokia X

One of my favorite aspects of Android is the sheer versatility of the operating system. The Nokia X smartphone was announced last week with full services from Nokia and Microsoft. Nokia X is launched with Android 4.1.2, which was released in November 2012, which is quite outdated compared to the new releases. Since then we have seen 6 updates, including two major revisions, bringing us Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Thanks to those at Nokia running an outdated version of Android, a user from XDA Developers was able to install an explorer file that can read system partitions, like Root Explorer, and manually put all Google apps on the Nokia X. With a minimal effort, Nokia X now has Google applications such as Google Now, Google Maps, Google Now Launcher and most importantly, it has the Google Play Store, which has applications, games, music, movies and books.

But this question remains: Why would you buy the Nokia X and put Google services on it? It's a cheap device, it doesn't have very good features, it runs an old version of Android and you have to "crack" it to run Google services. The answer: Because you can.
