As useful as this function is in certain scenarios, it is so stressful when you are at home and you find that the player opens on your watch when you start the music on the HomePod, when you watch a video on YouTube from your iPhone .
How to turn off Now Playing on Apple Watch
There are two simple methods by which you can disable the Now Playing feature, if you no longer want music, podcasts or YouTube from HomePod or iPhone so that they can no longer be controlled from the watch.
Disable Now Playing on Apple Watch
Go to Apple Watch in Settings ? General ? Auto-Launch ? Auto-Launch Audio Apps (disabled).
Disable Now Playing on iPhone
To disable Now Playing on the Apple Watch, from the iPhone, open the application Watch ? General ? App Launch ? Auto-Launch Audio Apps.
Once the option is disabled Auto-Lauch Audio Apps, when you have music or a podcast on your iPhone or HomePod, it will no longer automatically open on your Apple Watch. If you still want to take control of the audio, open the Now Playing application from the Apple Watch application list.
