Android is trying to solve a 4-year-old security problem and deal with new viruses and trojans

Those from Google are trying, after the huge expansion that made most mobile devices run the Android operating system, to face the cyber attacks of viruses hidden in various legitimate Android applications, which exploit a vulnerability of the system. This problem has been present since the beginning of the appearance of Android starting with version v1.6 and allows infected applications to be installed and pass the filter that verifies the digital signature that attests the authenticity of the application.

In order to be protected against these "little spies", users are advised to download their favorite applications only from Google Play and to uncheck the "install from unknown sources" option, which blocks illegitimate Android applications that are downloaded from other sources. The operating system being "open source", benefits from the advantages and disadvantages related to this fact. Among the advantages, we mention the possibility to intervene on the software that can be customized and corrected along the way by various developers and the possibility to be adapted to various mobile devices and even more recently in electronic devices and household appliances (SmartTV, refrigerators, ...) and the disadvantages are that when a problem is discovered, all the versions present on the huge market of mobile gadgets must be rewritten and updated, this means a huge effort and a long reaction time. For the time being, the first gadget to benefit from the detected correction is the Samsung i9300 Galaxy S3, following later with the propagation of the latest version of Android v4.2.2 and other models to benefit from this protection.
