Nokia sells Vertu luxury division to an investment fund

After the Finns launched the Vertu exclusive model division in 1998, especially dedicated to a segment of premium customers, this brand became a symbol of luxury in the mobile phone segment. The models made of precious metals (gold, platinum) and decorated with precious stones were appreciated by powerful customers from a material point of view and to stand out in society, but these models were only simple and modest devices in terms of in terms of performance.

Recently, these models were no longer so attractive for this segment of customers, especially due to the avalanche of smartphones with much higher performance and enormous success in recent years. Nokia has started the process of selling 90% of its shares to an investment fund, which will try to implement the new technologies of the moment to be able to compete with the giants in the premium segment, iPhone, Samsung, HTC. Nokia will continue to provide technology and support for the new Vertu models that will probably run Windows Phone and will continue their supremacy in the segment of luxury phones and maybe in the future also in the premium segment.
