MacBook Pro laptops, produced between 2011 and 2013, are being recalled by Apple due to faulty graphics chips

In February of 2013, certain users MacBook Pro laptops began to complain about stability and performance problems, which were obviously caused by the dedicated graphical interfaces used by the big company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. After about two years, the company admitted that there was indeed a problem and announced that it would begin a global repair program.

The repair program is called MacBook Pro Repair Extension Program for Video Issues and targets laptops sold between February 2011 and December 2013 whose defective graphical interfaces cause graphical artifacts, complete lack of video signal or operating system crashes. The problem affected the laptops they were using AMD Radeon chip 6750M, this being noted later also in the case of MacBook Pro laptops that implemented the 6490M, 6770M and 6970M models.

According to the information provided by Apple, the MacBook Pro models that may be affected are MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011), MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2011), MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2012) si MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 inch, Early 2013). The first four dedicated interfaces manufactured by AMD, while the latter two using chips manufactured by NVIDIA.

Unfortunately, this is not the first episode of this kind for Apple, the company faced similar problems in 2008. After being sued last fall, the company decided that it was necessary to solve the problem in a way accordingly and announced that it will launch a global repair program. Users in the United States and Canada can send their defective laptops to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider starting today, while the rest of the world will be able to do the same starting February 27.
