Many users reported a pretty serious problem after they connected Android smartphones to a Windows 10-based PC. After connecting, the files in the storage space where they are usually pictures, video si documents, they disappeared. And disappear on both the smartphone and Windows 10, without the possibility of being recovered.
Keeping in mind that smartphones offer generous storage space and holidays and holidays most of the pictures and videos are made with the mobile phone, it would not be nice to lose them all when we try to download them to the computer.
All Android devices can be connected to the Windows PC using a USB data cable. When connecting to an Android and Windows,Media Transfer Protocol MTP opens automatically. This is Microsoft's protocol for transferring media files (photos and videos) between Android and Windows. Even though there is often a stable protocol, there are situations where data transfer via MTP leads to their loss. Many users complained that after they used the transfer of pictures or videos via MTP, they disappeared from both the smartphone and the computer. From each split is a bug that appears only in the scenario where we move files to Android while the MTP connection is on. So, to avoid unpleasant situations, while MTP is on, do not move or modify files on your Android device.
The operations in which files can be lost are:
- if you are moving files on your smartphone to an external device connected to Windows 10.
- if you copy files, the process seems to work, but they never reach the location where they are sent or elsewhere. They just disappear.
This issue has been reported on Nexus 6P, HTC U11, Nokia 6, Moto G5, OnePlus 3 and 5, Xiaomi Mi 6, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and other Android devices.
